Imad Analis. Enam strain utama (genotipe) dari virus hepatitis C (HCV) menyebabkan infeksi. Anda mungkin terinfeksi dengan lebih dari satu genotipe pada satu waktu.
- Genotipe 1 adalah strain yang paling umum di Amerika Serikat.
- Genotipe 1, 2, dan 3 ditemukan di seluruh dunia.
- Genotipe 4 ditemukan di seluruh Afrika utara.
- Genotipe 5 umumnya ditemukan di Afrika Selatan.
- Genotipe 6 adalah umum di Asia.
Pemeriksaan genotipe ini hanya bisa dilakukan dengan pengujian spesimen darah.
Bagaimana Pemeriksaa Genotipe HCV Dapat Mempengaruhi Perawatan
Meskipun pemeriksaan genotipe tidak digunakan untuk mendiagnosis infeksi HCV, pemeriksaan ini mungkin dilakukan sebelum pengobatan dimulai. Dengan mengidentifikasi genotipe HCV dapat membantu dokter memilih rencana perawatan terbaik. Anda harus tahu genotipe HCV Anda sebelum perawatan dimulai.
Obat antiviral peginterferon dan ribavirin lebih mungkin bekerja untuk orang yang memiliki genotipe 2 atau 3. Obat-obatan ini juga digunakan untuk mengobati orang yang memiliki genotipe 5 dan 6.
Kombinasi sofosbuvir dan simeprevir atau pil tunggal yang mengandung ledipasvir dan sofosbuvir dapat digunakan untuk mengobati hepatitis C pada orang yang memiliki genotipe 1.
Jika tes darah menunjukkan bahwa Anda telah menanggapi terapi antivirus (virus tidak terdeteksi dalam darah Anda) setelah 6 bulan, pengobatan mungkin:
- Berlanjut selama 6 bulan lagi, jika Anda terinfeksi genotipe 1.
- Berhenti, jika Anda terinfeksi genotipe 2 atau 3. Perawatan yang memperpanjang tampaknya tidak memberikan manfaat lebih banyak.
Genotipe HCV tampaknya tidak memiliki efek pada tingkat keparahan infeksi HCV atau mempengaruhi risiko Anda mengembangkan kanker hati.
